F/EOTD: Diana Vickers Collection 2000 inspired Make-up

Hey Girls,
The other day I got the new issue of more magazine, not sure if 27 make's me too old for it but I still love it, in fact it's the only magazine that I buy on a regular basis, In my head I am totally still 18!

Anyway the reason I'm drivelling on about a magazine is that, while flicking through, not to giggle at Barbie and Ken doing position of the week,I might add ;) I noticed a rather bright advert for Collection 2000's new pump up the volume mascara featuring Diana Vickers (The new face of the brand) The make-up, I thought looked stunning and it was instantly something I wanted to recreate myself.

Image from DianaVickersDaily.com
Another mascara ad with obvious falsies WHY?

No Lash inserts or dramatisations have been used in this photo ;p
Although it would look better with lashes lol

Sorry for the shoddy webcam picture, I find it so hard to take a decent picture of my face with my camera any tips would be hugely appreciated :D

I know that Yellow eye make-up is not everyone's cup of tea, and I never pick a yellow to wear on my eyes, although with this look I think the smokiness under the lower lashes and warm brown in the socket help to make it wearable. I honestly really loved wearing this look out last night, it was so nice for a change, and it's definitely something I will wear again with pleasure!

Righty then, I'm off for homemade pizza at my Mum and Dad's house now, so naughty but so amazing! My mouth is actually watering at the thought of it! Also very excited that it's The Batchelor night tonight, any other Batchelor fans out there? Who do you think he will pick? I was thinking Layla but it's looking more and more like he will pick Carrie-Anne...urgh... me no likey xxx

In case you want to watch me waffle on while I Diana-fy
I hope you all have a lovely weekend!

I nipped into Primark today to buy a ring that I had seen, but not picked up while I was shopping in Leeds on Saturday. Unfortunately Primark was having one of it's lovely 'new stock' days, and I ended up with a bit of a haul oops! I hope you enjoy  :)

Fancy some Wenslydale Gromit?
Great thumbnail as usual, naaaaht!! "/

Have you picked up any Primark goodies lately?

Leeds shopping: MAC and Liz Earle

Hey Girls,
Yesterday my friend Lisa and I had tickets to the mind, body and beauty show in Leeds, we rocked up all giddy expecting to be attending a show along similar lines to Olympia or Professional beauty...how very wrong we were....In reality it was a tiny room inside the Northern ballet building in which a few random local business' had set up display's of their offerings on paste tables, the majority were non beauty related. After fending of the dodgy watch salespeople, sampling (and pretending we loved while trying not to vom) some rank yet expensive skincare, escaping a lengthy lecture from the Church of England and an even lengthier Tai chi demonstration we did manage to get our eyebrows threaded and a shellac manicure for a tenner before escaping to the city centre for some much needed retail therapy.

I knew Leeds was supposed to be great for shopping but I couldn't believe just how amazing it actually was, the shops are all so pretty and you are completely spoilt for choice, you really do need a full day (and an even fuller bank account) to get around them all.

I would like to move there now please.

So as I'm pretty broke at the moment I had a budget, which was rather frustrating, but I decided my money would probably be best spent in a shop which us country bumpkins don't often get a chance to visit.Harvey Nichols. What a wonderful place, full of beautiful people it is!Once inside we were excitedly fondling the Alexander Wang Rocco bag while the snotty Balenciaga girls gave us evils, I had a feeling they sensed our  budget so we headed over to the sanctuary of the MAC counter where I picked up...

'SNOB' Lipstick and Studio sculpt foundation

Seen as though we were in Harvey Nichols I thought it fitting to buy 'snob' a lilac toned pink (satin finish) which I have never owned before, and has great potential to become a favourite.

I have also never owned studio sculpt foundation but it has been on my list of foundations to try for such a long time. I used it today and on first impression I really like it, it's a medium/full coverage and gives a dewy finish. Watch this space for a full review.

Also in Leeds city centre is an actual Liz Earle SHOP and it's a corker! I had to go in and repurchase the cleanse and polish hot cloth cleanser!

If you have a blog and have recently reviewed the Liz Earle Cleanse and polish, then you may have had a comment from me moaning about how my skin has missed mine since I ran out a couple of months ago, and it really has! Not too often will you hear me give a product Holy grail status, but this cleanser really is, for want of a better phrase "The absolute nuts".
The sales assistant was lovely and because she asked me if I had purchased from Liz Earle before I had to explain that I was a Blogger and got certain products sent to me from the PR, she asked all about my blog which was lovely and told me that she usually watches Pixiwoo and we had a chat about Nic's baby, it's such a small world! Oh and when you purchase something from the shop you get a free sample size gift of your choice, I chose the skin repair moisturiser which at 15ml is a very generous amount of product, and I'm sure to fall in love with it aren't I?

EOTD: Autumn trend/Graphic lines

Hey Girls,
Yesterday I got my subscription email from In style magazine, which had a section on Autumn/Winter eyeliner trends, one in particular caught my eye (geddit eye haha.Small minds!) It was a trend used in the Louis Vuitton A/W 2011 ad campaign in which the models wore a stroke of liquid liner drawn freehand in the inner corner of the eye.

This afternoon I had a bit of spare time, so as always when this happens, I sat on my bedroom floor with my make-up and entertained myself, kind of like a toddler with a packet of crayons. I purchased a few Sleek palette's a couple of weeks ago and hadn't really had much chance to use them, so as the weather has finally decided to get in the right season I went with the sunset palette which has some gorgeous colours in it that really scream Autumn. I think the LV eyeliner trend must have settled it's self into my subconscious because after I had finished applying the winged liner my hand was kind of drawn into the inner tear duct area and was happily drawing a line there aswell...

The Sleek Sunset palette

Anyone for a bit of extra forehead? Crop fail :(

On the one hand it's a bit cheeky to call this an eye of the day as I haven't been out around town wearing this look, however on the other it's so on the money as I only did the one eye and am still wearing it. I have to pop to the local shop now, I wonder if the one eyed make-up look will go down well...I'll let you know ;) xxx

Weekend summary...

It's one of those Monday mornings that I actually love, I have nothing much to do, well actually I do but I am allowing myself time to procrastinate, which I'm sure I will regret later when I realise the sink is piled high with pots and I have no clean pants...but ho hum!
The puppies enjoy a spot of procrastinating on a Monday morning as well!
While the rain hammers it down outside I am settled comfortably on my settee in a big snuggly jumper (yes snuggly is a word spell check!!), Vanilla ice cream scented candles burning all around the living room, watching Pirates of the Caribbean 4 on DVD, with a large coffee, (the first of many) and will no doubt be in a caffeine coma by the time I finish writing this...

Anyway, I did plan on writing a Sunday summary last night but by the time I had got back from nomming a Sunday roast at the pub, editing a haul video, and trying to keep up with the #bbloggers Twitter chat all while watching X factor, it just didn't happen :(  So instead here's my weekend summary...

Friday (always an honorary weekend day) was spent shopping with my lovely friend Lisa, she has just set up her own salon and needed a few bits and pieces to decorate her treatment room so we trundled off to Ikea, on the way managing the impossible feat of getting to McDonalds before they stopped serving breakfast (10.30 am!! Why? Ronald why??) Sadly and amazingly I declined a sausage and egg Mcmuffin while (size 8) Lisa troffed one and washed it down with a chocolate orange Galaxy, life can be so unfair!!
We had the usual girlie Ikea shop, playing house in all the little room set-ups, playing with the toys in the kids dept *cough* , lying on the beds, laughing hysterically about the episode of Friends where Pheobe pretends to be swedish and calls herself Ikea, and leaving quickly having purchased only candles from the market hall because we were eager to get to the Boots superstore across the retail park!! (oh and also resisting a hot dog at the end, top marks!)
We did quickly pop into comet because I am currently on the hunt for a decent video camera, and after having a play with some of the fancy HD jobby's I was left baffled as to which would be the best one, wondering if I really do look that gross in real life and finally comforting myself with the thought that it must be the awful florescent lighting making it seem like I am a pasty faced hag with pores the size of moon craters!

If any of you guy's have any recommendations for picking out a video camera, please leave me a comment, is HD the way forward?

Saturday was another shopping day, this time with my boyfriend, our son had a laser tag party to attend in Derby so we had a couple of hours to kill and spent it mooching around Westfield, I had a bit of a fuzzy head after a few drinks on Friday night, and so it was a bit of a chore battling through the crowds while trying not to Vom/have a panic attack/collapse in a heap on the floor!
Being the wee trooper that I am though I did manage to buy a few bit's and pieces from Superdrug, a humongous NYX eye shadow palette from TK MAXX , a new cozy autumn-y cardigan from a charity shop...which is 2 sizes too small, (but I'm hopeful all of this resisting food will pay off and it will fit in time for Christmas) and a Hello Kitty umbrella which my boyfriend royally took the piss out of, and tried to talk me out of buying by pointing out that I don't walk around in the rain often enough to justify spending £12 on a ("child's") umbrella! I told him that walking in the rain would be my new hobby!
(Haul video here)

Sunday was pretty uneventful, I played with some sfx make-up for the first time in a long time, filmed said haul video after many failed attempts at stringing together a coherent intro. I also got to use my new umbrella albeit for about 30 seconds while we walked from the car into the pub...but still, I managed to prove to my boyfriend that I do in fact walk in the rain.

How was your weekend?

Review: Liz Earle Sheer Skin tint

Hey lovelies,
This is a very long overdue review of the Liz Earle sheer skin tint, I really wanted to give this product a thorough road test before sharing my thoughts, and because I favour a medium coverage from a base on a day to day basis, I haven't always allowed myself to reach for this product, but better late than never eh? ;)

Generally I am not a fan of tinted moisturisers and haven't purchased one for myself in years, the reason for this is that if I do ever find myself wanting uber light coverage I will mix a light foundation into my moisturiser and save my money. However I do count the Liz Earle cleanse and polish as one of my holy grail items which truly worked wonders for my skin! So when I was given the opportunity to try the brand's first ever cosmetic product I was really excited to give it a go.

I really don't want to write a long winded review, as Liz Earle have done the PR rounds with this and there are a million and one reviews on it already, so I'll try and make it snappy...

Application/coverage/finish
When I initially applied it to the back of my hand I was pleasantly surprised by it's creamy texture, this fooled me into thinking that maybe it was going to blend off to a heavier than expected finish, but no, it does feel ultra rich on application but blends off to a barely there, dewy finish and leaves the skin feeling incredibly hydrated, and soft.

Left (Skin tint applied to the back of my hand)
Top (Blended slightly)
Bottom (Blended out completely)
Shade range
Sheer skin tint comes in three shades
01 Bare (for very pale skin tones)
02 Beige (for medium skin tones)
03 Beach (for tanned/olive skin tones)

I (being naturally NC20-25) chose 02 Beige which LE claims will work well on most Caucasian skin tones, and I agree as it has no stand out undertone of pink or yellow, tone wise it strikes a fabulous balance between the two. However with a (fake) tan it becomes too pale for me and I would definitely need to go up a shade.
The three shades that are available seem to cover a very broad spectrum of skin tones, although I do think there should be a shade available for darker skin as the darkest one available would not work on black skin.

Price and availability
Liz Earle Sheer skin tint is priced at £21.00 for 40ml and is available online at Lizearle.com, John Lewis, or at one of the Liz Earle stores in the UK, Store Information can be found here.

Conclusion
The skin tint is a lovely, value for money product and demonstrates how good Liz Earle are at making great skincare. If you are a fan of tinted moisturisers then I would recommend this wholeheartedly, likewise if you are new to make-up and the idea of wearing foundation freaks you out. Personally I don't think I will ever be a skin tint/tinted moisturiser kind of girl, while I'm all for skin looking like skin, I need me some coverage.

September favourites video

Hey girls!
Hope you are all well (well as well as you can be on a Monday morning!) How many times can you say 'well' in a sentence Natalie?, sheesh :P
Love this so I stole it from weheartit.

It's that time again, can you believe it's October?? I can't wrap my head around how quick this year has gone, and I really can't wrap my head around the fact that it is my little baby boy's TENTH birthday in 2 weeks!! Wow life actually goes way too quick for my liking, and to be honest with Xmas decorations making an appearance in certain shops in August, Easter eggs popping up on supermarket shelves on boxing day and things like that, there really is no wonder time seems to pass us by so quickly, the world needs to chill!

Anyhoooooo here are my September faves, in video form, I do like a good chat ;)  I hope you like it lovelies.xxx.
