MUA's sleek new products

The Superdrug in my local town is having a bit of an overhaul ready to squeeze in a perfume shop concession.I took this as an excuse to go in for a nose, ignoring my boyfriend's protests as it had only been a week since I dragged him in with me and "what could possibly be different?" Well actually there was a brand new shiny make-up counter so neeeeeerrrr! ;p
Obviously from the title of this post I'm sure you have guessed that the brand new shiny make-up counter was an MUA one, a counter which I don't always stop at but today it really caught my attention. The single eye shadows have been replaced with palettes, they now also have a line of foundations and a couple of funky looking mosaic bronze and blushers. The counter wasn't fully stocked up but I picked up a few bits and pieces...
Please excuse the dodgy photo,I was rushing as my camera battery was dying!
The only minor downside with the new MUA products is that no longer is everything only £1, the prices are a little higher, only by a small amount and the quality of the products (from what I can see so far) totally justify the little hike in price.
The Dusk til Dawn palette-£4.00
(It shall be known as the George Clooney palette :))

 Swatches

Called the dusk til dawn palette as the 12 colours included are colours that you can use to "transform your look from day to night."As soon as I swatched these colours I was impressed, the colours are all very well pigmented, are velvety soft in texture and glide on super smoothly. So far I haven't tested these out on the eye area but I'm pretty sure they will be really easy to apply and blend. There are also around 5 other palette's to choose from in the new MUA range.
Trio eyeshadow-innocence-£2.50
Another new addition to the range are the eyeshadow trio's which include a highlight, a base shade and a contour colour. Also well pigmented but a little less smooth in consistency than the palette colours.
Swatches

3 in 1 extreme contour Eye pen £1.50
To be honest I wasn't completely sure what to expect upon opening this, after reading the blurb on the back of the box I was a little unsure...
I have never seen another product like this. Is it just me? Anyway what it basically is,is a super soft angled eyeliner which you can use to create various effects with by using the different areas of the pen, for example the tip gives you a fine line, the edge gives you a thicker line, and by turning the edge on its side you can create an ultra thick line.

So far from what I can see its pretty fantastic and glides on like an absolute dream! I cant wait to test it out fully! I just wish the Black had been on the shelf!!

What are your thoughts on MUA?
Will you be picking anything up from the new range?

My latest favourite Nail polish combo!

Hey Girls,
So as this is a combination of polishes that are a) brand new and exciting and b) one that I have painted my nails with twice in one week, which to me is when I know that I have found a new favourite! I thought I would share with you what I have been loving to wear on my nails for the past week...
L-R NYC Expert last nail polish Lights, camera glitter (105) and Barry M Mint Green (304)

Lights, camera glitter is my first and only bottle of NYC polish and I don't really know too much about the line if im honest. This particular polish is clear, with silver glitter running all the way through it and larger pieces of Blue and Purple glitter that spread out randomly when applied giving each nail a unique appearance which I really like :) I find that it needs a couple of coats to get a nice amount of the larger glitter pieces onto the nails as on occasion I have had just one or two pieces apply to my nail and I definitely prefer a few more than that.

Good old Barry does it again with another beauty of a polish!! I dont think I own a Barry M polish that I dont like, in fact every time I pick up a new one its always my new favourite! Mint Green is no exception! A beautiful pastel Green which is perfect for the warmer months, applies opaque in two coats and although I was kind of hoping for an Essie Mint candy apple dupe (which I think leans a little more blue) I am chuffed to bits to add this to my Barry collection and am sure that I will get through this bottle by the end of the year as its just delish!

What are your favourite Barry M polishes? And has anyone tried any of the other NYC polishes?

ooh also I was tagged by the lovely Hannah to do the 50 random questions video so if you would like to see that you can check it out here  :)

What's in my Make-up bag(s) video

I know Im like some crazed video making freak this week! Mainly because they make me slightly out of my comfort zone and I am trying to overcome this by forcing myself to make as many as I can and just getting over it! I do find watching myself back really cringey so have kept the editing to a minimum and just thrown it out there into the big wide scary world of You tube and hope that you will all like it, even though it's a long one!
Well done if you made it to the end, and thanks so much for watching!!

Barry M: Perfect tan, gradual self tan mousse and weirdness

I have just come home from a mini superdrug trip where I picked up this which is new from Barry M. I am so excited to try this out tonight mainly because of the promo image for it...

Could it possibly deliver those legs aswell??
I just think that if this actually delivers that colour, then it's going to be my new HG tanner without a doubt! And for £6.99 even if it doesn't then it wont be a massive disappointment.

So I am going to apply this tonight after a good old scrub in the shower, and more than likely post the results in video form tomorrow afternoon.

2 funny things that happened in Superdrug

My boyfriend was so intrigued by the Barry M touch of magic lipstick that he tried it on his lips!!
(he was very impressed, am I going out with a closet tranny? help!)

The SA wasnt going to give me a Superdrug loyalty card because she thought I was underage!! (Im 26!)

What do you think to Barry M's new tanners
has anyone tried it yet? let me knooow please.

Colour B4:Hair colour remover *WARNING*

Lately I have been toying with the idea of lightening my dark brown/black hair to a light brown shade for the Summer months, so the other day I picked up the Colour B4 hair colour remover in the hopes that it would simply remove the deeper tones of dye that have built up in my hair over the years, take me back to my natural shade which is a medium/dark brown and that I would subsequently have a great natural colour ready for a trip to the salon!

What Colour B4 claims to do
  • Remove Permanent and semi-permanent hair colour
  • Use to remove any unwanted hair colour
  • Remove colour build up
  • Can be used before salon treatment

How it works

Colour B4 shrinks the artificial dye molecules in the hair, enabling you to simply rinse them away.Colour B4 does not touch your natural hair pigment so you are left with the colour which lay beneath your natural shade

Included are three bottles (A,B,and C) which work much like most home hair colouring kits. You simply mix bottles A & B, apply all over the hair, wait for an hour (I knooow!!) then rinse and apply bottle C which is a buffer that removes any trace of colour and makes sure the hair is left ready for any future colouring treatments.
The box states that some colouring products contain high levels of peroxide which can lighten the natural hair colour and (in some cases) cause a warm shade to be revealed once Colour B4 has removed the dark artificial pigment.
Hmmm...WARM SHADE? I think Orange is the term they were looking for!

I was mortified to wash off the solution after an hour of waiting, and the recommended 20 minutes worth of rinsing! My actual hair colour is now the same as before but I also have these rather fetching patchy orange streaks on the top of my head.
My son even asked why I had dyed my hair orange, and my Dad thinks it's funny to call me Cilla Black hmmpphh!

I wouldn't have thought that my dark hair dye's contained a high level of peroxide so continued with the treatment but obviously the fact that the box states this means they are covered against any backlash from angry orange headed customers!

So as you can probably tell I am very unimpressed and I thought I should just post this as a warning to anyone who is thinking of using colour B4 as I am now really wishing that I had put the £11.99 towards a trip to the salon. *goes to find a hat*

Have you had an experience with Colour B4?

A Lush list

This Saturday I'm going to Nottingham with my Dad who needs to take his smart car to have something done at it, we make this little Father/Daughter trip every few months and I turn it into a shopping trip for the both of us (Im sure he loves it!) I usually drag him into MAC and Space NK, you know to keep him up to date with the current make-up trends ;) I am actually planning on staying away from the MAC store as I just go wappo in there and spent a small fortune in there a few weeks ago (see here), but we'll see how that turns out, there are actually a few things I would like to pick up!

Anyway I am really excited to go to lush as it has been well over a year since my last trip and I am really missing having lush products in my life. I scouted the website earlier and decided that I will probably pick up these few beauts!

Ceridwyns couldron
 What Lush say...
Magical, relaxing melt for softer skin. It could be the ultimate bathing experience, but we won't know that until we finish inventing them. For now, it's as wonderful as you can get. We recommend lots of candles around the bathroom and the phone turned off for this one. Each melt is wrapped in muslin, dipped in wild flowers and tied with a ribbon. According to the spell it is based on, if you spit three times in the water, your wish will come true. Cocoa butter and  your skin a soothing and gently-walnut oil melt into the bathwater, frothing slightly, leaving you a muslin bag of whole oats to givescented scrub. It's truly lovely.

Hmm...Im not sure that spitting in the bath water is something I'll be doing! Nevertheless I am looking forward to picking this up.

Mrs.Whippy Bath ballistic
What Lush say...
Although she looks shamefully like a whipped strawberry meringue, Mrs. Whippy would be none too pleased if you took a bite! Instead, drop her in your bath water to fill your tub with delectable strawberry ice cream-scented foam. Mrs. Whippy is a bit slow at fizzing, so she's best for long, indulgent soaks. Mrs. Whippy has powdered soya milk in the middle, so the water becomes extra softened when the Bath Bomb fizzes down to the centre. It's a milk bath like Cleopatra used to have and it's great for comforting the skin after frolicking outdoors. Jack Constantine created this one for his wife; he wanted a soothing, creamy bath that would relax her and leave her skin as soft as a vegan alternative to silk. Just don't tell Mr. Whippy!

Im totally loving the sound of that! I love when my skin feels really soft after a bath! And strawberry ice-cream is my fave, so this is on the list!

Dorothy Bubble bar
What Lush say...
Any friend of Dorothy is a friend of ours. This spring, we're taking you far from the rain and grey clouds to somewhere over the rainbow. Your bath-water will be as blue as the skies over munchkinland and the exotic scent of ylang and sweet figs will make you want to go skipping off to see the wizard. A better day awaits you at the end of our rainbow

Gimmicky and cute nuff said!

Rock star soap
What Lush say...
The creamy vanilla sweetie one. Here's a soap for all of us who know we ought to be attracted to sophisticated beiges and navy blues, but can't help grabbing everything pink! The Rock Star soap smells just like Creamy Candy Bath, so now you can shower and bathe with our sweet vanilla perfume.

Vanilla is my favourite smell in the whole world so im excited to pick this up!

Too Drunk
Emotibomb
What Lush say...
This is for the day after you got too drunk. It has essential oils of peppermint, tagetes, fennel and reviving sweet wild orange to refresh you, soothe a sore head and bring you back to life. Just stick one in the shower, turn on the water and stand there - or sit if you can't manage being vertical - getting drenched, until it all feels a bit better. Of course, you don't have to have a hangover to use one.

Well it would be rude not too try this out to its full potential, A few drinks may be in order on Saturday night (in the interests of research)

Has anyone used any of these products? what are your thoughts?
Oooh and any recommendations would be great, Im planning on stocking right up!

Loreal Colour riche made for me intense lipstick: Pink passion

The cover of last month's issue of Glamour saw Cheryl Cole looking gorgeous in a simple white fitted summer dress, a pretty, volumised, loose ponytail and the most amazing shade of lipstick! I was so obsessed with the colour of the lipstick that I had a dream about it (I do this alot with make-up!) nutter! I tweeted about my lipstick lusting, Glamour mag noticed and told me the colour was Loreal colour riche in Pink passion and I today I finally got my hands on it...
Oooh I wonder if I will get mistaken for Cheryl when I go out later?? ;)
Pink passion is a gorgeous very well pigmented bright pink, the formulation and finish actually reminds me of a MAC amplified lipstick. It applies really smoothly and feels moisturising although as the day goes on it looses moisture as it turns to more of a stain. I think that it would be a lipstick that would show up any dryness on the lips, so a lip balm beforehand would be a good idea if you are having a dry lip day! I have had this on now for around 3 hours and it is showing no sign of going anywhere even though I have eaten and had 2 cans of diet coke (a habit I need to kick!) which is really impressive.
Pink passion...which actually looks coral in the bullet

The range contains 10 intense colours, formulated specifically to suit either blondes or brunettes, with coordinating nail varnish also available!
What do you think girls? Do you have any of the CR made for me range?

April Favourites x

I thought April had 31 days...is the song not 30 days have September, August, June and November?? Obviously not! hmmpfff!
Anyway enough of my terrible knowledge of the days of the month and on to the good stuff, the products that have made me feel good in April!

Eyeshadows
The 4 E/S that I have used the most throughout April have all been by MAC, they are...Naked lunch, Woodwinked, Shale and Painterly (paint pot) as a base. Woodwinked is a staple favourite, I have loved wearing it over painterly for a summery bronzed look. I have also worn Naked lunch alot, either on its own with a couple of coats of mascara when I don't have much time, with a flick of black liner or as a base with Shale as a simple daytime smokey.
TOP-Painterly PP
L-R Naked lunch, Shale, Woodwinked
L-R Painterly PP, Woodwinked, Shale, Naked lunch

Lipstick
Im surprised to say that out of the new lipsticks I purchased earlier in the month, the one I have reached for the most is Angel from MAC,I have used it almost daily. The reason Im surprised is that it is a frost finish (probably one of my least favourite lipstick finishes) but it doesn't seem to have that finish on me, it's actually a lovely creamy pink that really suits my skintone.

Nail polish
This is another one that surprised me, I don't know why as it is loved by so many, I suppose i've never really been a pink nail girl! It's Barry M Pink flamingo..Its such a bright (neon in certain lights) Pink which I cant stop looking at when I have it on! I even re-did my nails with it when it began showing tip wear, and ended up wearing it for 10 days straight which is something I don't normally do as I get bored quickly.

Blush
Without a doubt April's most used blush has been NARS Deep throat, I haven't even looked at another blush all month, see why here.

Hair
I gave up the straighteners a few months ago, favouring either a tonged curl or a loose messy wave, but for the past few weeks I have really been enjoying straightening my hair again with GHD's. I have been finding that I love the sleek look and the fact that my hair doesn't tangle as easy as when it's curled. My Boyfriend really loves the messy look, but its not him that has to drag a brush through a mass of bushy knots at the end of the day is it?
And the prize for owning the oldest, most knackered pair of GHD's in history goes to........
Boring Bits and Bobs
Imperial leather foamburst shower and shave is a godsend, Im surprised that there don't seem to be very many products on the market that do the same multitasking job that this does.
Now that summer is approaching and the weather is warm enough to wear open toed shoes, pretty feet are a must, so I have spent alot of time on mine and used my Ped-egg to get rid of any unsightly rough skin.

I hope you enjoyed my favourites, What have you been loving in April?
