Just a quick post from me tonight as Im still slightly hungover from last night and have just stuffed myself with chicken tikka masala and cheese naan so Im feeling really lazy to the point where it's an effort to type right now, I'm sure you all know what I mean :)
Anyway I made an order with Love Make-up on Wednesday night and it arrived yesterday which I was chuffed to bits about! I do love me some speedy service!! I ordered some things that I had wanted for a really long time and things that I am really excited to finally have in my collection. I will make sure to pop up some reviews so if there is any particular product you would like to hear my thoughts on just let me know and I will get that done :) Righty Im off to watch Xfactor and snuggle on the sofa I may or may not have a giant bag of M&M peanuts aswell ;)... Have a lovely night all xxx
So last week I was a lucky so and so and won two competitions, both of which had the best kind of prizes, Make-up YAY!! *happy dance* The first one that I won was held by Glossybox UK on their Twitter account, I entered in the morning and completely forgot all about it until I was sat reading a magazine at tea time and my phone buzzed through a Twitter notification informing me of my win, well I was chuffed to bits I cant even tell you how giddy I was, ooh maybe I should have told you that the prize was a beautiful set of Rouge bunny Rouge make-up, which included a v.expensive bottle of bronzing liquid, a luxe lip balm and one of the most beautiful eye shadows I have ever seen!! Needless to say I was grinning like a Cheshire cat for the rest of the night :D
A couple of days later I was sitting on my bum minding my own when I got a tweet from the very lovely Gem telling me that I was the winner of her 500 blog followers give away, to be honest It had completely slipped my mind that I had entered, so had to toddle along to Gem's blog to check out the prize, which left me a little bit gobsmacked as it was the biggest most generous lot of make-uppy goodness and Cheshire cat grinning was resumed!! :D
Do you want to see?
I made a rather long video today, but I hope you guys don't mind too much. I tried to make it entertaining during the editing process ;)
Big thanks to Glossybox and Gem for holding such generous giveaway's
OK so my laptop appears to have miraculously cured itself and 24 hours has gone by without it overheating once so I am feeling confident enough now to sit and write up my October favourites without flapping that it's going to blow up in my face.Yay! Anyway enough of the "woe is me, my laptop broke" snoozefest, I promise there will be no more! It's all make-up and beauty from here on in girls and boys...Good times :)
On to the good stuff...
Make-up
Vivo cosmetics lipstick shade 8 'barely there'
This has been my go to nude lipstick throughout October. It reminds me of one of my favourite ever nudes which is Hue from MAC but at £1.99 is a lot more purse friendly. It has a gorgeous creamy finish with a slight glossy sheen, feels really moisturising on the lips, and the smell! Oh my Gawwd! If you love creamy vanilla/coconut smells then you need this lipstick in your life.
17 Supreme shine lipstick in Pink Posey
I picked this lipstick up before a shoot that I did last week (I know I'm cheating the favourites system here ;)), the photographer wanted natural make-up with a bright lip and none of the lipsticks I owned were what I had in mind for the look. I wanted a dramatic bright purple but this was the closest thing I could get from my local (miniature) Boots...Anyhoo...I wasn't expecting too much from pink posy in the way of lasting power as 'supreme shine' to me suggests that it would be one of those lipsticks that slides off the lips within 20 minutes but no, I was proved wrong when it stayed put throughout the shoot and beyond, which all in all was about 2 and a half hours, so even though it is technically a November fave I really wanted to share it as I'm so impressed and I'm loving the colour for Autumn/Winter.
NARS Sheer glow foundation
I have had my fickle pants on this month when it comes to foundations but for the last couple of weeks I have been religiously using an old (once hailed Holy Grail) favourite.NARS Sheer glow. The shade that I have is Deauville which is my perfect match when I have absolutely no colour/fake tan which at the moment I don't (think Morticia Addams or Fester :o) I have been applying this with a damp beauty blender sponge and loving the beautiful airbrushed looking finish that this gives so much more than when I apply with my MAC 190 foundation brush.
Laura Mercier universal invisible loose setting powder
I love this powder!
I'm not really a powder girl, as my skin leans to the dry side it's a step that I often forget in my make-up routine. This month though I have used this powder to set my foundation most days.I love how it just does what it say's on the tin, it set's the foundation, and is invisible, simple :)
Collection 2000 lasting perfection concealer
I have been loving using this concealer in two shades this month firstly I like to used medium 3 (which is a peachy tone) underneath my eyes to correct any dark shadows and light 2 to brighten the area and give me a much needed hand to look more awake and alert.
I picked up this eye kohl when there was a 3 for 2 on Collection 2000 eye products in Boots about a week or so ago, along with one of the above mentioned concealers and the new Pump up the volume mascara . I didn't really expect to love it as much as I do but I have been seriously impressed! It is a really soft well pigmented kohl which stays put in the waterline all day long, even on my eyes which have a tendency to run like a tap, especially at this time of the year.Big thumbs up to Collection 2000 this month!!
Hair Products
L-R-Head and shoulders citrus fresh shampoo John Frieda Frizz ease 3 days straight VO5 Gloss me smoothly conditioner
Front-Amargan hair therapy oil
This month I have been making a much bigger effort than I normally do to get my hair in good condition. I have a lot of fine hair with a natural wave to it and find that within about half an hour of being out of the house, it feels tangly and develops annoying kinks. All I want is for it to look sleek, shiny and bouncy, and to be able to run my fingers through it without giving myself whiplash.
So this month I took a little inspiration from the beautiful Anna and Barbara's haircare video's and picked up the Head and shoulders citrus fresh shampoo and the V05 Gloss me smoothly conditioner (for frizzy hair) and I have really noticed the difference in my hair since I have been using them, the Head and shoulders really makes my hair feel ultra clean and my hair feels really silky soft as soon as I rinse the V05 conditioner out in the shower. My hair has definitely been alot sleeker and shinier thanks to these products.
The other hair products that I have been loving are the Amargan hair therapy oil which I picked up at a beauty supplies store. It is some sort of Argan oil (?) You just apply a small amount through damp hair and it cuts the hair drying process by up to 50% I was massively sceptical about this at first but it really works. Without this my hair takes around 15 minutes to blow dry but with it, it literally takes 5 minutes, I do love a time saving product!
And lastly in my quest for super sleek hair I have been using the John Frieda frizz ease 3 days straight. I originally bought this to use in place of my GHD's which broke a little while ago...but I didn't read the instructions which clearly state that this is a product that is supposed to work along side hair straighteners DUH! Anyway it has helped my hair's kinky tendancies and does keep it straight for around 24hours which is fair enough. I'm sure it would work really well when used correctly ;)
Book of the month
The secret by Rhonda Byrne
I always love when other bloggers include their favourite books in monthly favourites posts so I thought I would include mine as its a real cracker! It's kind of tricky to describe and I don't want to ruin it with some ditzy explanation, but if you enjoy philosophy books and you haven't read the secret I totally recommend checking it out as it is such a fascinating read and one that always makes me feel super positive and motivated.
Phew Im sure that has been my longest list of favourites to date! If you got to the end congrats!
Lately it seems that at the beginning of every month I get something new, love it, then have to wait a whole month to add it into my favourites. It is now November the 7th and I already have things that are potentially faves for the end of the month (Origins Vitazing moisturiser, Oh M Gee I got it two days ago and it's already <3 )
October Favourites video
I hope everyone is having a lovely night, Im off too put the heating on because my toes feel like icicles right now brrrrr! :)
Hello lovelies!
If you follow my blabbings on Twitter you are probably aware that I have been without my laptop for what feels like forever, in actual fact It's been less than two weeks, but if you have ever been through the trauma of a laptop breakdown and are a geek super cool person like me you will feel my pain.
Anyway to cut a long story short, I am typing this on said broken laptop but it, in the words of my boyfriends cousin (who is a genius laptop repairman) is fucked! It wont stay turned on for longer than half and hour without getting more overheated than Peter Stringfellows loins! Did that only sound funny in my head?
Sorry, I couldnt help it!
Image (just in case you want it for yourself) from johnnyikon.com
Luckily it's only 8 months old and still under warranty...unluckily I can't find my reciept, so Im in for an afternoon of drawer surfing woo hoo! I just wanted to tap up a quick post because it's been over two weeks since anything was posted on here and I didn't want you to think that I had deserted my l'il blog :)
I'm sorry that this is a bit of a rambly, incohearent, nothing to do with beauty/make-up post but I made a quick video for my You tube channel and you will see why im tapping in a hurry :) ooooh and happy bonfire night everyone!
Hey Girls,
The other day I got the new issue of more magazine, not sure if 27 make's me too old for it but I still love it, in fact it's the only magazine that I buy on a regular basis, In my head I am totally still 18!
Anyway the reason I'm drivelling on about a magazine is that, while flicking through, not to giggle at Barbie and Ken doing position of the week,I might add ;) I noticed a rather bright advert for Collection 2000's new pump up the volume mascara featuring Diana Vickers (The new face of the brand) The make-up, I thought looked stunning and it was instantly something I wanted to recreate myself.
No Lash inserts or dramatisations have been used in this photo ;p
Although it would look better with lashes lol
Sorry for the shoddy webcam picture, I find it so hard to take a decent picture of my face with my camera any tips would be hugely appreciated :D
I know that Yellow eye make-up is not everyone's cup of tea, and I never pick a yellow to wear on my eyes, although with this look I think the smokiness under the lower lashes and warm brown in the socket help to make it wearable. I honestly really loved wearing this look out last night, it was so nice for a change, and it's definitely something I will wear again with pleasure!
Righty then, I'm off for homemade pizza at my Mum and Dad's house now, so naughty but so amazing! My mouth is actually watering at the thought of it! Also very excited that it's The Batchelor night tonight, any other Batchelor fans out there? Who do you think he will pick? I was thinking Layla but it's looking more and more like he will pick Carrie-Anne...urgh... me no likey xxx
In case you want to watch me waffle on while I Diana-fy
Hey girlies,
I nipped into Primark today to buy a ring that I had seen, but not picked up while I was shopping in Leeds on Saturday. Unfortunately Primark was having one of it's lovely 'new stock' days, and I ended up with a bit of a haul oops! I hope you enjoy :)
It's that time again, can you believe it's October?? I can't wrap my head around how quick this year has gone, and I really can't wrap my head around the fact that it is my little baby boy's TENTH birthday in 2 weeks!! Wow life actually goes way too quick for my liking, and to be honest with Xmas decorations making an appearance in certain shops in August, Easter eggs popping up on supermarket shelves on boxing day and things like that, there really is no wonder time seems to pass us by so quickly, the world needs to chill!
Anyhoooooo here are my September faves, in video form, I do like a good chat ;) I hope you like it lovelies.xxx.
Evening girlies,
I am a bit gutted that I missed out on the #bbloggers Twitter chat tonight (which was all about making tutorials), as I have just started doing tutorials on my You Tube channel and am sure I will have missed out on some amazing tips!!
So I missed the chat because I was having a total mare editing this video down to the 15minutes that You Tube allow, only to find a message congratulating me on my account being eligible for longer uploads, when I clicked the upload button grrrr!! haha sods law eh?
The image that I used for inspiration was taken from the ifabbo home page, an amazing bright colourful eye with glowing, healthy looking bronzed skin. I love it!
I hope you enjoy it guys :)
IN OTHER NEWS...
I was so excited last night to receive an email from a photographer that I worked with a few months ago telling me that two of the images from the shoot were featured on the Vogue italia website yesterday eek!
I feel like Carrie Bradshaw or something hehehe! I would sooooo spill at Vogue!
Evening girlies! You may have noticed that Im really getting my You tube groove on this week, I think it has something to do with my son being on Summer holidays from school and not having very much time to sit quietly and put together a coherent blogpost. It just seems easier to sit and talk or play with make-up in front of a camera for 10 minutes at the moment. The 'get ready with me video's are some of my favourite video's to watch on You Tube and I really wanted to make one to show my daily make-up routine, I hope you enjoy it guys :) Oh and top points for anyone that spots me getting foundation in my hair and applying way too much bronzer lolzzz ;)
Evening girls, myself and the gorgeous Lisa became BeneBabes for the day today and helped out the beautiful Liv at the launch of the new Benefit 'They're real' mascara at our local Benefit counter in Boots. In exchange for our services we were paid in Benefit products (the best wage I have EVER had!) I plan on doing a real blog post on the products that I got today with swatches, reviews and the whole shebang but for tonight a video was just the easier option, being a BeneBabe is tiresome work hehe :o
I have spent the day living like a caveman! (By that I mean my broadband was down and I had to rely on 3G to get my emails and see Twitter) Times like this make me try to remember what life was like before we had the technology that we have (and take for granted) the most positive thing I can come up with is that people must have had smaller bum's ;)
Anyway basically I have spent the day away from the laptop and made a video instead of writing a blogpost....I hope you like it.
Dear You Tube, why do you always pick the thumbnail
that makes me look like a deranged Chipmunk?
Just a quick (ish) video of what I picked up from town yesterday. I love to shop on a Sunday,it's so much more chilled out and quiet than any other day.
Because the sales are on at the moment (and I can't be bothered to sift through the mess) I didn't end up buying very much, but I do quite like filming these videos, and it was either that or watch Man.utd "/
I know Im like some crazed video making freak this week! Mainly because they make me slightly out of my comfort zone and I am trying to overcome this by forcing myself to make as many as I can and just getting over it! I do find watching myself back really cringey so have kept the editing to a minimum and just thrown it out there into the big wide scary world of You tube and hope that you will all like it, even though it's a long one! Well done if you made it to the end, and thanks so much for watching!!
Hi everyone, I hope you are all having a good weekend! In my last post I said that I would be posting the results from trying out the new Barry M gradual tanning mousse in video form,so here it is :)
What a sexy thumbnail!!
I hope it's helpful for some of you.Let me know what you think, and to really make my weekend please hit the thumbs up and subscribe to my channel :)
Hi everyone, I thought I would do something different and post my latest mini haul as a video. As I have spent loads of time watching You tube videos this past week, mainly pixi2woo I felt really inspired to make one myself, I have done a few before but I lost the confidence somehow but I really wanted to overcome it and just go for it so here gooooes>>>
I hope you enjoyed it guys, please subscribe and let me know what you think
