Primark Autumn/Winter 2012: My picks

I pretty much love Primark all year round, it has it's crappy times quite often throughout the year but it just always seems to really come into it's own during the Autumn/Winter months, and at this time every year I find myself almost physically craving weekly trips as much as Augustus Gloop craves Wonka bars...no joke... ;) I did a bit of a spree in there a couple of weeks ago, but after going through InStyle's editors picks tonight I can see that another one is well and truly on the cards...

Clockwise from top left

001-Triangle Necklace £3
002-Star stud jumper £14
003-Pink and grey knit bobble hat £3
004-Embellished collar dress £17
005-Grey stripe knit £6
006-Moustache slippers £8
007-Black sequin striped jumper £12
008-Chiffon maxi dress £18
009-Gold spike necklace £4
010-Berry knit snood £5
011-Fringe font khaki t-shirt £7
012-Stud pocket khaki trousers £13
013-Black cuban ankle boots £18
014-Textured rings £3
015 (centre) - Tiger tip chiffon top £7

0.1% Half of me is hoping that as it is just before Xmas and not an ideal time to be spending money on myself that at least a few of these items will look a lot less desirable in real life as is often the Primark way, but I think I did well to pick only 15 out of the 99 editors picks so maybe I should feed my inner Gloop and reward myself for being so frugal? ;)

Have Primark nailed it?!

My nails suck, big time! despite never being a nail biter or one to partake in much manual labour (lolz) I find that my nails grow just to the tips of my fingers, then get all peely and break, so about 80% of the time since I was 14 or 15 I have relied on false nails. I really wouldn't like to sit and tot up how much money I have spent on what are essentially little squares of plastic over the years...so when I spotted (get it!) what I think are a new range of nails in Primark for £1 I was all over giving them a go!

Hmmmm....so I feel a bit tight saying that I was "disappointed" in anything about these nails, I mean they were a pound so that would be an over exaggeration, buuut after the second day the design had started to wear off, by the fourth a couple of them had snapped across the top and by day 7 they were looking very shabby indeed, which, if I had spent the 7 or 8 pounds that I usually would on a pack from Boots I would have been pretty miffed about so these nails definitely fall into the "you get what you pay for" category in terms of quality.

With all that said, and not liking to sound negative especially against my beloved Primark I'm imagining that these nails have been designed for the purpose of nights out and the like which they are most definitely fabulous for... so yeah Primark, you nailed it kinda ;)

Primark Haul video

Happy Friday!!

I did a bit of shopping at the beginning of this week and Primark was having one of its good days so I picked up quite a few bits and pieces which prompted me to get my butt into gear and film a long overdue Haul video for my You Tube channel! I was so so nervous sitting talking into the camera so apologies at my pleb like behaviour if you do watch the video! Anyway just a quickie from me as I have a big old pile of stuff to clear up now and I can already hear the pub calling my name ;)
I hope you all have a luverrrrly weekend

Face of the day: Impassioned for Sunday shopping

Phew that was a mouthful of a title wasn't it? I'm not gonna lie to you I had to google the word 'impassioned' just to check that I was using it in the right context. I wonder if Corrie would like to give me her blog name (Dizzy brunette) ;)

As you may have noticed I don't often do FOTD post's mainly because I can never take a decent photo of myself (woe is me) but today I persevered with it just so I could show you my new foundation and unusually bright lips, luckily I had a good 20 minutes of posing time while my boyfriend was driving us to town.
What I wore...
Face
Jemma Kidd Light as air foundation (shade 03)
Laura Mercier universal setting powder
Sleek contour kit bronzer (light)
MAC Mineralize skin finish (soft and gentle)

Eyes
Urban Decay naked palette shades Half baked, Dark horse and sin.
Bourjois volumizer mascara (only step one)
Maybelline gel eyeliner
Vivo cosmetics eyebrow kit to fill brows

Lips
MAC Impassioned lipstick
Barry M lipgloss (which has no number but it's the baby pink one)

Blogging has taught me so many things and today's lesson was that taking photo's of yourself in a car doing 50mph on bendy, uneven country lanes is not the best idea, never have I been so pleased to get stuck behind a tractor doing 3mph in my life!

This lipstick is the reason I wanted to post a FOTD today, it is perhaps the most beautiful colour lipstick that I have ever seen in my life. Admittedly in the many months I have owned it, I haven't given it nearly the attention that it deserves and bypassed it 99.9% of the time in favour of some nude or pale pink.Wuss.
Yes this is bright but with a more natural face and subtle eye it work's so well and I didn't feel at all conspicuous mooching around the shops this afternoon. In fact it made me feel pretty good :)
I added the Barry M lipgloss as my lips are suffering with the change in seasons and Impassioned is not the most forgiving shade on dry lips.

I had to pop into town today to take back a top from Topshop that made me look like a brick. I'm not good at taking things back, I have to have something else and it's usually something more expensive...

Rhinestone Earth burnout Tunic Tee £24 Topshop
I was instantly drawn to this tunic t-shirt, charcoal grey is one of my favourite colour's to wear and the beautiful rhinestone detailed motif just sealed the deal, I cant wait to wear it with my black skinny jeans and (beloved) Allegra boots, which by the way were sold out today in my local Topshop so I'm really chuffed that I picked them up when I did! I just re-read that and it was perhaps a tad dramatic kind of like I'm thinking I got the last pair on Earth or something..Oh dear!
I also picked up this cute little string bracelet with a wishbone charm for £2 which goes to the Centrepoint charity for homeless youngsters.

Next stop Primark...
Grey pleated skirt £10.00 Primark
As soon as I spotted this skirt I was all over it. It's Grey, It's pleated and its only jolly well wooly!! Admittedly in this picture it looks like it hangs a bit funny and I can't tell you otherwise as of yet having not tried it on, but Im keeping my fingers firmly crossed because the concept is just wonderful!!

Black/Gold belt £2.50 Primark

D'ya know I think that a belt is possibly the most boring thing to photograph, apologies if this picture bores you, I debated not putting it in but what the hey it's the weekend let's go wild!
I have been loving Black and Gold accessories lately and the Gold chain detail just made this belt stand out for me as something a little different and so into the basket it went.

So that was my Sunday, ooh I also popped in to see my Nan as it's her birthday today I bought her a Cliff Richard book and this shopping bag as she's a huge TOWIE fan lolzzz...

Her reaction was "oh my God, Im going shopping on Tuesday I can't wait to take this out!"
Not your average Nan I tell you! ;)

Wow it's Xfactor time that has come around quick, I can't wait to see Jessie J!
Hope you have all had a lovely weekend

Primark Haul Video

Hey girlies,
I nipped into Primark today to buy a ring that I had seen, but not picked up while I was shopping in Leeds on Saturday. Unfortunately Primark was having one of it's lovely 'new stock' days, and I ended up with a bit of a haul oops! I hope you enjoy  :)

Fancy some Wenslydale Gromit?
Great thumbnail as usual, naaaaht!! "/

Have you picked up any Primark goodies lately?

Primark and Benefit haul:Video

Evening girls, myself and the gorgeous Lisa became BeneBabes for the day today and helped out the beautiful Liv at the launch of the new Benefit 'They're real' mascara at our local Benefit counter in Boots. In exchange for our services we were paid in Benefit products (the best wage I have EVER had!) I plan on doing a real blog post on the products that I got today with swatches, reviews and the whole shebang but for tonight a video was just the easier option, being a BeneBabe is tiresome work hehe :o

Sunday shopping...Primark etc *video*

Dear You Tube, why do you always pick the thumbnail
that makes me look like a deranged Chipmunk?

Just a quick (ish) video of what I picked up from town yesterday. I love to shop on a Sunday,it's so much more chilled out and quiet than any other day.
Because the sales are on at the moment (and I can't be bothered to sift through the mess) I didn't end up buying very much, but I do quite like filming these videos, and it was either that or watch Man.utd "/
I hope you enjoy,and please subscribe x

Love you, Love you not #2

This leopard print, fabric strap watch, something that could most definitely be described as a 'marmite' item. I must admit to being unsure of my feelings towards it when I bought it  last week, but having been out for dinner 5 times this week (I know, oink!) and wearing it on each occasion, I think I love it.The fabric strap which I think initially sparked my interest makes it something that bit different from your standard watch and it holds the scent of your perfume which I like...small minds!
The best bit is that it's a Primark special and cost £4, so if I hate it this time next week (or more likely,it stops working) It can go in the bin.simples.

Primark (and H&M) Haul...oops!

The oops is in reference to the fact that I haven't managed even a week without shopping, NOT ONE WEEK!!! Total fail!!! But I'm slowly getting over it because I now have some lovely Summery items in my wardrobe that have been making me very happy! Also I didn't even so much as glance in the direction of Boots or Superdrug (the only places to buy make-up in my small town) So at least I achieved something right? "/

It seemed that everyone and their Grandma was in Primark yesterday, it was evil! So I just picked up everything I liked and thought that it would be easier to try on at home and take back what I don't like, hence the two basically identical maxi dresses! £9 each.

These trousers were the first thing I saw and I love them! They are such a lightweight cotton and I love the braces! Cant wait to wear these :) At £12 you really cant grumble!

Basic stretch boob tube £3 each
Im still umming and aahing over this yellow cardi! Part of me actually thinks its gross!! but the other part loves it! What do you guys think? It was £12.
Loose T-shirt £5.99 H&M I wanted one of these to throw over either vest tops or a maxi dress. I love new white t-shirts!
2 string/diamante bracelets £1.50 Primark
Chunky Rope and Gold chain necklace £3 Primark
How pretty is this necklace? I bought it to wear over one of the maxi dresses. £2.50 Primark
6 pairs of studs £1.50
Stack of 5 bangles £5.99 H&M
Necklaces sold seperately at H&M £1.99 each. The lengths adjust and they look great worn together.

Honourable mention goes to my Mum for buying me this t-shirt...

Hahaha Yeah Pixies Rock!! How funny! Mum was like "I saw this and thought, you had to have it!"
I think it needs to be my blogging t-shirt!!!

Oh I nearly forgot the BEST bit! I also bought series one of TOWIE! im so excited to be able to watch it whenever I need an Essex fix!! :D

Anyone else been hauling Primarni lately?

Primark Pretty

How cute is this headband I picked up in Primark this week?

Had I been Team Slitherin, I could have bought this headband to coincide with the release of the new Harry Potter film on DVD this week! Of course Im a good girl and Team Gryffindor all the way!!
Hmmm...I think this headband may reduce the flow of blood to one's head!!!
Seriously though I am really loving this, it's so different to anything I already own,and for only £2 the same price as Glamour magazine Bargain or what?? xxx

Because I have too much to say!!...

Currently...

Tanning with...

Forget St.Tropez (Forgive me,old faithful),it's all about St.Moriz at the minute for me! Simple application,no nasty fake tan smell and £2.99 a bottle!!which means you get 6 and a half bottles for the price of one St.Tropez,Im constantly repurchasing and haven't found fault with it yet (oh ok,the blatent rip off of St.Tropez name is a bit of a bummer and doesn't look as en vogue on the dresser...BTW..Is St.Moriz a place or just a made up tanland??)

Listening to...

Britney,Christina,Enrique and Eminem...this little nostalgia trip stemmed from when i was cleaning out my closet (Eminem pun intended!) and stumbled on a bunch of CD's from when i first met my boyfriend...aww takes me back! I love a wander down memory lane!

Shopping at...

Well...everywhere really!! The shopping bug has a hold of me pretty bad this month!! I do keep trying to justify it to my boyfriend by saying 'but there are so many nice things in the shops at the moment, and thats not my fault is it?..blame the shops babe!'

Favourites of the month are:

Primark...Pretty much a staple favourite, but this month i've picked up some really gorgeous things..ooh and their make-up range is suprisingly good!!

Dolled up...I'm fortunate enough to live near this shop, but check out their new website, and if you are ever in the area pop in! The store owners are amazing.

Next...The only reason I ever shopped here before was for my Son's clothes and home ware.( check out the vintage jar competition here)

I don't know what it is but I have always felt that Next is a shop that's just too structured and grown up for me :/
But this weekend after popping into the home dept and having to pay in the women's clothing dept,I noticed a section of perfumes, one of which had a bottle almost identical to YSL Cinema and which after a quick spritz I discovered to actually be a fab copy!...well for £6.50 as January's pay cheque is drying up, this promptly bumped up Next's appeal and now here it is a new fave!! They also have an amazing copy of Armani 'she'...My mum's fave she went nuts for it!!

The £6.50 bottle doesnt have the bling effect of the YSL bottle, but the larger sizes do.

Watching...

As we speak I'm watching sex and the city 2...Its only the second time I have seen it, the first was at the cinema with my best friend,we were absolutely doubled up in hysterics at the market scene where Samantha goes nuts! If you haven't seen it yet check it out asap its better than the first movie!
SATC 2 xxx

I also saw Inception this month and LOVED it,I had to google it before watching as i'd heard it was a hard one to understand...that really helped and I totally enjoyed it,beginning to (crazy good) ending.

Also quick mention for 'The Vampire Diaries' as it is Tuesday after all, dont forget to get your Salvatore fix at 9pm itv2 ;) xxx

BITE ME DAMON!!

Reading...
Check out the l'il lego peeps!,
my son collects them and gives me his spares
!

As you can see, pretty much everything! Currently not reading would be a better description!
From The shopaholic series to books on buddhism and philosophy (FYI you need to check out the secret!!)
I can't seem to stick to one book or magazine at the moment! Blogs however I am sticking to and loving!!
Favourites mentioned here.

Wishing for...

I have heard nothing but good stories about this foundation,Alexa Cheung even tweeted about it the other week, a sample later and im hooked!!!
Also on the lust list is the new Vivienne Westwood scent, not because i've sampled it! It's simply the fantastic name...am now wanting to go to the deed poll office....hmm....there's a thought!

Has anyone tried 'NAUGHTY ALICE?'Let me know what you think of it..xx

Well I fear that my posts are becoming a little self indulgent of late, but I love a good old snoop into what other bloggers are doing, buying etc and  really wanted to share a bit more about my life, promise to post some reviews this week!!!

Please leave your comments below and tell me what you have been buying, reading etc :)

Loadsa love Nat xxx
