My top 3 Bourjois products

 

When it comes to drugstore Make-up I love me some Bourjois, I find as a general rule when drugstore cosmetic shopping , if in doubt go the Bourjois route (if you're American you will get alot more out of that sentence than the Brits, or not ahem!) because they rarely put out a disappointing product, I actually can't think of one off the top of my head although if my arm was twisted I'd have to say I'm not a huge fan of the classic 'chocolate bronzer.'

Above are my all time favourites, the one's that shall be forever repurchased.

1.Healthy mix radiance reveal foundation 

I actually love this foundation so much that I often pick it over my higher end ones. For me this is a perfect all seasons base, it blends so easily (I like to apply this with my fingers), gives light/medium coverage which can be built into a decent medium with a satin finish, the bottle claims it lasts up to16hrs which is just silly but it does stick around well I get around 5-6 hours without powder before my beautiful nose redness starts peeking through.

2.Volume one second mascara

A mascara with balls! :o Seriously though I had high hopes when I picked this up and I wasn't disappointed.The rubber brush/tiny ball combo works wonders on the awkwardness that are my mid length crossed over lashes, it gives separation, length and volume that lasts the day without smudging/flaking (I have the non waterproof version)  and although it goes without saying that the 1 second claim is just daft it does the job quickly with minimal wand wiggle-age needed.

3.Bronzing primer

I honestly thought this had a better name until just now so I shall use the French...The Bourjois base lissante soleil (better) is currently my obsession, supposedly a dupe for the much hyped Soleil tan de Chanel or whatever it's called nowadays, I never gave into that hype because I didn't think I was missing out on a mousse formula bronzing primer, how wrong was I? Although the colour and consistency are quite scary at first glance, the BLS ;) blends into the skin like a dream leaving a smooth matte base for foundation which it then lends a hand to giving a suprisingly subtle bronzed healthy finish.So far I have only used this as a primer but apparently it works well as a contour so I'm going to have to give that a go!

NB: I'll be damned if there is a base product on this planet that smells this delicious!!

NB2: I over scooped in the above swatch picture...a little goes a long way with this.

Superdrug haul!

Hi di hi! 

As it's coming up to Christmas I wasn't expecting to be using the word haul around here at least until the end of the month, but Christmas means cold weather and cold weather means dry skin, dry skin means sadness and that's just not allowed at Christmas time, it's the law right?

Oh the guilty conscious, you would think I had just dropped a fortune in Chanel...

...unfortunately not, but I did pick up some nice bits and pieces.

-Superdrug Brightening hot cloth cleanser 150ml

I started using this when my last Liz Earle cleanse and polish ran out, I really like the whole cleanse and polish method when it comes to cleansing my skin and I can't say that I noticed a great deal of difference between the two in terms of what they do for the appearence of my skin, I actually prefer the smell (and price) of this one so I shall continue to repurchase it.

-Garnier Micellar cleansing water 400ml

I got so excited when I saw this! A new contender to be a drugstore bioderma dupe! I've never actually tried bioderma but the whole cleansing water concept has always held my curiosity so I shall keep you posted as soon as I have given this a try.

24hr hydrating moisturiser-Dry to very dry skin 50ml

I wrote a full review on this earlier in the year (here) I love it, my skin loves it, and although it is always reasonably priced it was on offer for a teeny £2.98 today so my purse now loves it too!

Also I was in the market for a new mascara....dry,clumpy lashes actually make reindeer cry, and don't let me get started on what happens to them when you pass up a 3 for 2....(Oh for goodness sake what is my life??)

-Rimmel Glam eyes Day 2 night mascara

 Nothing new here, I remember there being a massive hype around this when it first came out either last year or the year before, I can't keep up, I didn't actually give it a go back then and wasn't really planning to pick it up but then I spotted the 2 nail polishes and grabbed it to make up the 3 for 2...

-Rimmel Salon Pro Kate Moss 711 'Punk rock'

Around 2 years ago I was obsessed with a NARS nail polish 'Galion' was it's name, I speak in the past tense, it is still available but as much as I have ogled it on line and stroked it in Space NK that one time, my nails are pretty rubbish so I have never justified forking out £14 for it and always had my eye out for a dupe, this my friends is the dupe! A dark 'stormy' grey with an undertone of purple, this picture does it no justice it is actually the polish dreams are made of  (well my very strange dreams anyway ;)) 

-Rimmel Finishing touch glitter top coat

Who can resist glittery nails in December? This is one of the 3 new topcoats from Rimmel a clear base laden with fine Gold and multicolour glitter I swatched this sneakily in the shop, (naughty and not advised especially in certain branches of Superdrug where you will be made to feel like a reprobate for doing so!) and it has to be the most perfect sparkly yet subtle finish for festive fingertips!!

So that's it no more spending for me, the word haul is now banished from this blog until Santa has been and gone, but do let me know if you are guilty of buying yourself pre-Christmas treats (It will make me feel lots better!)

Holy grail mascara!

After the last mascara review that I posted I swore to myself that I would never write another, mainly because to be honest, as much as I love it, I find mascara a pretty dull subject to write about.

     This morning however a little black package was delivered and here I am tapping away, fickle as ever ;)

What's the bad boy in question?

MAC Zoom lash 

I love MAC (I even have a MAC song and dance, don't judge me) I would go as far as to say it is my all time favourite cosmetic brand, so it's strange that I have never owned or wanted to own one of their mascara's I usually see them in store think 'meh' and head off to the lipsticks.

When I received this 1.4ml sample with an online order I was intrigued and quite excited to give it a go.

When it comes to new mascara I usually brace myself for disappointment, in my experience 90% of the time proceedings unfold like this...

 "Ooh new mascara gonna have me some sexyyy lashes tonight"

...20 mins later sobbing in the bathroom removing the clumps and starting my whole eye make-up from scratch.

So over the years the thrill of getting a new mascara has worn off somewhat.

One coat 

Zoom lash is something else! From the second the brush hit my lashes I could swear I had an out of body experience, heard angels sing, fireworks went off, the whole shebang! The wand gripped my lashes with brute force and held on to the very end leaving them volumised curled and separated. I was actually blown away by it hence (and sorry for) the overly dramatic post! 

9 hours later my lashes feel exactly as they did upon initial application, still perfectly curled and there hasn't been so much as a hint of flaking or smudging.

Needless to say I am going to have to purchase the full size as soon as possible *goes to check price* £13.50 It's actually only a pound more than my old faithful Loreal Telescopic, happy days :)

Review: Bourjois Volumizer mascara

It has taken me a while to jump on the 2in1 mascara bandwagon but when my Loreal Telescopic lost it's battle against dryness the other week, I took the opportunity to see what the fuss was about and popped the Volumizer into my Tesco basket.

Basically there are two parts to the wand, step one which has minimal product to create clump free length, and step two which is loaded with product 'to create spectacular 3D volume.'

For length and volume I really cant fault it, my Mum even asked me if I was wearing false lashes :) It also doesn't flake or smudge under the lower lashes and even though it isn't waterproof it managed to stay put when I washed my hair over the bath (don't ask!)
However the whole wet messiness of step 2 is a clump fest/black eyelid disaster waiting to happen and something that I don't generally have time for on a day to day basis. Step one is nice enough to use on it's own but I will be going back to my Loreal Telescopic which I find gives my lashes a much better/long lasting curl.

Overall I think that if you are looking for a long wearing dramatic lash effect then you will love this mascara.

Personally step 2 is something that I can live without !
